Motivations

I ran my usual route yesterday and I am quite proud of myself for doing so. Getting motivated is the hardest part for me. It seems to be the hardest part for everyone. Spring running in Montana is a crap shoot at best. Yesterday it was sunny and about 40 degrees at 8am. Today it is cloudy and about 21 degrees. Tomorrow calls for snow. You never know what a day will bring until about July. Even then you can still wake up to snow. Today I am taking the day off after 3 straight days. I have no real plan. I'm just trying to build a habit right now. Get up at a reasonable hour, run, and go to work. That's it. Later I will work on distance and speed. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Running

In the past I was quite the runner. I used to run in high school in order to train for field hockey. I ran in college because it felt good. I ran in my late 20s because I joined a soccer league to meet boys. In between all of these times I fell off the wagon multiple times. Today, I am 33. Today, I seem to have the internal clock of a seven year old. Today, I woke up at 6am and couldn't go back to sleep. Today, I ran. I didn't run far. I didn't run fast. But I did it. Let's see how this goes, shall we.
